The Privatization Agency of the Republic of Serbia terminated the Purchase and Sales Contract on the sale of ‘’Sinvoz’’ a.d., Zrenjanin with the buyer Nebojsa Ivkovic from Belgrade, on January 31, 2008.

The President of ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union, Mr. Matic, received a reply from the director of Topola Livar AD, in which it was stated that he didn’t contest workers right to payment of vacation allowance and that 20% of this allowance for 2007 was paid out in September together with payment of earnings for August 2007. It was also stated that it was agreed with workers that the remaining unpaid portion of vacation allowance should be paid out as follows:

The General Director of ‘’BRATSTVO’’ a.d., Dusko Tesanovic, in the presence of representatives of the Autonomous Trade Union ‘’BRATSTVO’’ and ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union of ‘’BRATSTVO’’ admitted to membership another 82 members which signed the Admission Forms and thereby the ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union was registered. All this led to fulfillment of legal conditions and establishing trade union representation.

The shipyard ‘’Begej’’ in Zrenjanin was visited by colleague Erik B. Wiberg of ‘’DANSK METAL’’ for the reason of his informing about the operations and activities of trade union in various social and economic conditions. Mr. A. Todic, Secretary of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’, together with colleague Wiberg, visited the Regional Trustee Office where they were informed about their activities. In the shipyard ‘’Begej’’ colleague Wiberg was informed about the potentials of this Company within the domain of shipbuilding, while a part of the Trustee Committee was informed about the work and activities of Trade Union of ‘’DANSK METAL’’, working conditions, job safety and industrial hygiene in Danish companies dealing with shipbuilding.

The MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ and Branch Union of TLF ‘’Nezavisnost’’ initiated a Seminar on Mobbing. Mr. Aleksandar Ilic of ‘’Stop Mobbing’’ Association gave a lecture on this subject. The representatives of regional trustee offices had the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of Mobbing phenomenon, be informed about current legal framework referring to Mobbing, as well as of the mode of implementing Mobbing in a company. The action of MWBU ‘’Nezavisnost’’ called ‘’May I ask you’’ was also promoted and representatives of privatized companies received the questionnaires they should hand in to employees.

THE CABLE FACTORY HAS A CHANCE

The ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union has made attempts since 2004 and earlier to find an adequate customer for the Cable Factory and employees a majority owner, who shall pay adequately for their knowledge, experience and work. Due to obstruction of the Executive Management and the Autonomous Trade Union, the business environment got worse and the company’s reputation was not as it had been a few years ago. The company is burdened with debts and there are many creditors. A majority of workers had to seek and request their rights in the competent courts. A large number of well-known cable manufacturers, such as DRAKA, LAPPA, TELEFONIKA and others established their business cooperation with other factories.
