BACKA BURDENED WITH UNIONIST PROBLEMS

A predominant problem in trade unions within the companies, visited by the MWBU President, is the non-existence of social dialogue and good will to resolve the economic problems by joint efforts of employers and trade unions. In all three visited companies, namely, ’’Premix’’, ’’Sigma’’ and ’’Bratstvo’’ there has been unreadiness and clumsyness in solving the accumulated problems followed by the observance of statutory regulations.

UNIONIST ACTION FOR ‘’SAFETY IN THE FACTORY’’

The endeavors of the ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Trade Union of ‘’GOSA FOM’’ to impose work discipline, order and responsibility in the company with full observance of statutory regulations, have been ignored by the executive management of ‘’GOSA FOM’’. The problems associated with payment of earnings, employee transport, different employee status, those who are shareholders and who are not, were especially present in the area of job safety which is on an unacceptably low level in ‘’GOSA FOM’’. A confirmation of this assertion is frequent employee injuries, non-existence and non-observance of safety measures and procedures, not reporting some employee injuries, as well as the non-existence of the C.A. in the area of job safety and industrial hygiene, seriously affect safety and health of ‘’GOSA FOM’’ employees. The most affected category are employees with limited working abilities, disabled workers, who have often been offered jobs that they must not and cannot perform.

Good news come to us from Backa, more precisely, from “Sigma” Subotica, where Slobodan Mijatovic, President of “Nezavisnost” Union of ‘’Sigma”, returned to work after 3 years and 10 months, based on the court decision. Regular elections were organized in “Sigma” and Zarko Lapcevic was elected Trade Union President.

The Commission for ranking the redundancies in AD Sinvoz, Zrenjanin, confirmed the Decision reached at its session held on May 28, 2007, so that Sinvoz would remain without 63 workers and ’’Nezavisnost’’ Union would lose 28 of its members.

CHANGE OF BUSINESS PARTNER

“Vojvodjanska banka”, majority owner of the Shipyard “Begej” from Zrenjanin, with 96,7% capital, broke the Agreement on business cooperation with controversial Dutch businessman Komer Damen, because of default of his commitments towards “Vojvodjanska banka” and employees.
