The Women’s Section of ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Trade Union of IMK ‘’14. oktobar’’ A.D. was formed on March 28, 2003, and since then it has participated actively in all actions organized by the Commissary Committee of ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Trade Union in this company. From a total number of union members, 165 are women, namely, approx. 34%. In the Commissary Committee, from a total of 19 members, 4 are women, i.e. 21%, and this tells us about still insufficient percentage of women in trade union bodies.

The opinion of ’’Nezavisnost’’ Union concerning the privatization has been clear for some time already. In the conditions of obsolete technology, ruined equipment, when explosions occur in mines and workers are injured and killed, when there are no investments in the equipment, technology, ecology, when we do not pay taxes and contributions, it is clear that ’’RTB’’ has no alternative and that privatization is the only way out. If it would happen that the privatization was prevented and that thereby workers were left without pay, vacation allowance, transport and hot meal allowance, prompt payment of outstanding earnings, then just those people should be responsible for that, it has been said in the statement of the Executive Committee of ’’Nezavisnost’’ Union ’’TIR RTB BOR’’.

SUMADIJA-POMORAVLJE REGION
MEETING OF THE COORDINATING COMMITTEE

Jagodina, March 28, 2007
A regular meeting of the Coordinating Committee of Sumadija-Pomoravlje region of the MWBU ’’Nezavisnost’’ was held in the office of the UBU ’’Nezavisnost’’ of Pomoravlje district in Jagodina. The meeting was attended by commissaries of nine union committees, from a total of 12 in the region, and guests from Smederevo – Mileta Gujanicic, Vice-President of MWBU ’’Nezavisnost’’, and Jovan Stojkovic, M. Sc., President of the Informative Committee of MWBU ’’Nezavisnost’’. The conclusion of the meeting of the Coordinating Committee pertains to the necessity of engagement of all existing and newly formed sections and committees in Sumadija-Pomoravlje region in the activities of expanding the network of commissary offices and increasing the number of members of ’’Nezavisnost’’ Union.

The blackmails, ultimatums and threats are still present. They threaten us that, if we are not obedient, we won’t get subsidies’’, it has been said in the announcement of Nenad Matic, President of ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union of ‘’Zastava automobili’’ Kragujevac.

ZELVOZ ON ITS WAY TO PRIVATIZATION

Since its founding, the ‘’Nezavisnost’’ Union has supported the privatization of public property. Only the best should be elected members of the Tender Commission, someone knowledgeable and who will be able to provide much more advantages for employees (a calm time period in which workers will not be dismissed against their own will, that those willing to work should be provided a training and retraining for the new jobs) and that the Social Program, as anticipated in tender documentation, should be realized.

DOES TRUTH HAVE A PRICE ?

-‘’My suspicion about your ‘’good intentions concerning job safety’’ in ‘’Cimos’’ Kikinda Foundry has been stirred up by your indecisiveness to find out the truth in connection with the death of your worker Nedeljko Orozovic. In this particular case, this truth has its equivalent expressed in Din. 120.000,00 that should be paid out to an expert of the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy of Belgrade. Your refusal and lack of interest in finding out the actual cause of accident will not mean preventing the punishment of responsible persons for the death of Nedeljko Orozovic.
